Zwischendurch bekommt die Firma Yukon Wild noch
einen Ausrüstungsschuppen. Das übernimmt Elisabeth , sodass
ich mich weiterhin um das Blockhaus kümmern kann.

of an addition to our equipment storage shed.

Die Holzständerbauweise ist eine schnelle, und
problemlose Konstruktionsweise. In kurzer Zeit ist der Lagerschuppenanbau
fertig. Fassade und Dach werden zur Stabilisierung mit Sperrholzplatten
verkleidet
Stud framing is a fast way to build. Plywood will cover the walls and
roof.

Währenddessen bekommt das Dach seine letzte Lage Teerschindeln werden aufgenagelt; Stück für Stück, Reihe für Reihe. Bis
zur ersten Kanutour im Juni muss ich fertig sein. Lange Arbeitstage sind die
Regel für Wochen. Nicht einmal die einbrechende Dunkelheit kann uns bremsen
- es wird nicht mehr Dunkel im Yukon.
Day gets shorter by the minute, and until the first canoe trip in
June, the roof has to be finished. Fortunately it's not getting dark in the
Yukon anymore, so working days are very long, nailing tar shingles on the
roof

Eine zusätzliche Herausforderung war die Art und
Weise dort oben einen Arbeitsplatz einzurichten. Diese Eigenkonstruktion mit
verschiebbaren Böcken auf Kantholzschienen hat sich bestens bewärt. Die
Höhenverstellung blieb bis zum Schluss immer ein Balanceakt.
Building the sliding working platform on rails on the roof, was the
only possible way to lay shingles on a steep roof like that on my own
